A base layer of smooth, sax and piano led jazz coos and meanders welcomingly as giggling bursts of noise and fuzz are beamed in from another dimension. Noise can often be a perilous, off putting world meant to unnerve. But not here. Freund uses the pixels and disintegrating patches of sound as textural wonder and a brilliant addition to near ambient jazz. We talked to him below.
